Birthdays are exciting-especially when you’ve had 70 of them, and B&G Pies is no exception! Every birthday is a cause for celebration but this one was especially sweet for Shannon Wilson, owner of B&G Pies in Winston Salem. After recently bringing these tasty treats back to life after a brief hiatus and a location change, Wilson was excited to get the chance to bring the iconic B&G pies to the public at a rip-roaring 70th birthday bash held at the 100-year-old Pulliams Restaurant on September 28th, 2019.
Stories and Nostalgia are Sweeter with B&G Pies
Local celebrities showed up in their classic cars, kids got to dress up as lemon and apple pies, and Kandy Griffin, the daughter of one of the original owners, popped in for an appearance as well. Everyone wanted to share their stories about B&G. Radio station WTOB was there to broadcast the event and recorded the conversation between Griffin and Wilson so all could hear the sincere gratitude when Griffin thanked Wilson for bringing the pies back. Hundreds of people showed up to share stories and a bite of the best fried hand pies in the Southeast. Over 300 pies were sold in under three hours during the celebration.
